htc-one-review-m8-labshot-12Last year HTC took the wraps off the HTC One M7, which was followed up this year by the HTC One M8, so by that logic, 2015’s flagship smartphone from HTC would most likely be called the HTC One M9, right? Well that may or may not be true, according to a recent post by @upleaks who revealed that HTC could be changing their naming scheme next year.

According to @upleaks, “OK, here’s a “little” leak; Next HTC flagship is NOT the M9. They will not use simple codename like M* anymore.” Unfortunately @upleaks does not mention what the new naming scheme will be, but another post by @upleaks has revealed that HTC has a phone in the works for next year that has been given the codename “Hima”.

It is not clear if Hima will be the next flagship phone from the Taiwanese company or if it is just another device, so we guess we’ll just have to sit tight and wait and see what HTC has planned for us next year. While it’s anyone’s guess as to what HTC could do with their 2015 smartphone, it is widely expected that the company will rely on a metal build for their phones again.

Given how well-received the HTC One M7 and One M8 were in terms of their design, chances are HTC will not want to deviate from that path. It is also speculated that the UltraPixel technology might make a return along with the BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers. Until we hear otherwise, do take it with a grain of salt for now.
