apple-pay-002Apple Pay is live and this is great for those who own either the iPhone 6 or the 6 Plus. Now there have been rumors that there could be some kind of Apple Pay rewards program. The rumors had suggested that the service could be launched in 2015, but now thanks to a new report from Bank Innovation, it seems that the rewards program could be launched this year in time for the holidays.

Unfortunately the details surrounding the alleged rewards program remains unknown, but it has been suggested that it will rely on the use of iBeacons to notify shoppers of potential rewards or deals that they can take advantage of if they were to use Apple Pay. One of the examples given by Bank Innovation’s sources states:

“One way they’ve [Apple] thought up is, say you’re in a Duane Reade [drug store], hypothetically. You get a push notification from Pepsi that they’ve worked out a deal with Duane Reade that you can get a free case of Pepsi. Just pick it up and use Apple Pay at the counter.” Like we said the original rumor had suggested that the feature could be rolled out in 2015 as Apple worked to refine Apple Pay.

However it seems that the feedback and the demand for Apple Pay could see Apple launch said program in the next few weeks. It remains to be seen how true the rumors are, so take it with a grain of salt for now and check back with us in the next few weeks to see if they have come true.
