htc-nexus-9-2014-10-06-02A few days ago and thanks to a leaked photo, we could have caught our first glimpse at the upcoming HTC Nexus 9 tablet. It featured a rather odd shape which felt more square than rectangular and seemed to confirm the recent filing at the FCC. With all these leaks, we can only assume that an announcement is imminent.

Well you’re in luck because according to a report from Focus Taiwan (via G For Games), HTC’s president of North Asia Jack Tong has basically confirmed the existence of the Nexus 9 tablet and that we might be able to learn more about the tablet come 16th of October which is next Thursday.

According to Tong, he claims that the Nexus 9 represents the company’s commitment to returning to the tablet market. Given that the last HTC tablet we heard about was the HTC Flyer from three years ago, safe to say many are eager to see what HTC could have come up with.

It also seems to hint that this could also open the door to more HTC tablets in the future. The 16th of October if true would be an interesting date to choose as Apple has recently sent out invites to their own event on the 16th of October where the new iPads are expected to be announced.
