ip6 prototypeSo yesterday we reported that an eBay seller had posted what they claimed was an iPhone 6 prototype. At this point in time, the phone is sitting at a bid of over $100,000 but according to the seller, Alex (who is using his mother’s eBay account), he believes that the bids at this point are most likely fake.

Speaking to the folks at Cult of Mac, Alex stated that he’s also excited at the possibility of Apple getting in touch with him in hopes of probably asking him to return the prototype. In fact yesterday we mentioned that we wouldn’t be surprised if either Apple or Verizon (whom he ordered the phone from) got in touch with him to offer a replacement.

According to Alex, “I don’t think the bids are real at this point. I’m excited about Apple getting in touch because I have loved their company for so long and this is just such an amazing opportunity.” It seems that Alex is a big enough fan where he actually camped for two nights to get the iPhone 6 and being first in line, he actually sold his spot on Craigslist where he claimed to have made a “pretty penny”.

Speaking about the bids, “I am not as excited about these bids as I was earlier. At $4,000 I knew they were real bids; at $10,000 I thought they were real; and at $100,000 I am sure they are bogus. I am hoping for the best but expecting the worst.” But what do you guys think? Is a prototype really worth that much? Or do you expect that the bids at this point in time are most likely fake?
