oppo n3 fingerprintThe other day Oppo teased their upcoming Oppo N3 on Weibo. It showed the upper half of the phone and its swiveling camera, but what’s below? What could Oppo be hiding? Well in a newly leaked photo which you can see to your right, it looks like Oppo had a surprise feature that they were planning on announcing at their event.

Towards the middle part of the phone, you can see what appears to be a fingerprint scanner on the back. Presumably that was the surprise that Oppo had planned for their 29th of October unveiling in Singapore, which we guess is now more or less out of the bag. It is unclear as to whether the fingerprint scanner would afford users special features apart from unlocking the device.

For example with Apple’s Touch ID, users scan their fingerprints to authorize iTunes purchases, log into website, and whatnot. Samsung’s Galaxy S5 fingerprint scanner also allowed for users to authenticate PayPal payments, so we have to admit we’re curious if the Oppo N3’s fingerprint scanner will afford similar functionality as well.

In any case like we said, the handset is pegged for a release on the 29th of October in Singapore. The rumors claim that the device will sport a 5.9-inch Full HD display with a Snapdragon 805 chipset under the hood. Oppo had also recently confirmed that the phone will feature a 16MP camera with a 1/2.3-inch sensor.
