Let’s face it – when it comes to regulating something that does a whole lot of flying around while making some noise might not go down well with your neighbors – especially in this day and age where privacy concerns are all the more valid due to the number of image and video capturing devices all around. Having said that, it seems that somewhere in Lower Township, New Jersey, a drone incident has proved itself to be rather out of the ordinary.Basically, a drone that was flying over an alleged friend’s property to snap photos of that said property which is being constructed was shot down.
As the drone hit the ground after being shot, the owner discovered several perforations on the drone that does seem to be consistent with the holes that are caused by bullets. It did not take too long for 32-year old Russell J. Percenti to be arrested after he was accused of being the one shooting the drone down. On a purely technical basis, he was arrested because of having used a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief.
Do you think that this is going to be the first few (or at least, reported ones) of potentially many upcoming incidents in a similar vein? Perhaps those with a penchant for shooting down drones could talk to the National Parks, as the latter has already issued a blanket wide ban on drones there – and surely where there are laws, the itch to break them grows all the stronger.
