android 5 motoIt was only a few hours ago that Google announced Android 5.0 Lollipop, the company’s latest Android operating system that was previewed earlier this year. The update will be making its way out to Nexus devices first, as expected, but if you do not own a Nexus device but a Motorola one instead, you will be pleased to learn that Motorola will be updating some of its devices to the operating system.

As noted by Motorola on their blog, Google has yet to publicly release Android 5.0 Lollipop and is expected to do so in the coming weeks. This means that it is unclear as to when exactly these Motorola devices will be updated, although Motorola does reassure users that they will once the update is made available to them.

These devices include the Moto X (2013) and the Moto X (2014), the Moto G (2013) and the Moto G (2014), the Moto G with 4G LTE, the Moto E, the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and the Droid Mini. As we can see from this list, the devices range from Motorola’s top of the line handsets all the way down to its budget offerings, which is good news for customers across the board.

Once again we should point out that it is unclear as to when Motorola will be releasing the update, but other OEMs such as HTC has promised to release it within 90 days of them receiving the update, so hopefully Motorola will be just as quick, if not quicker.
