ipad-mini-retina-review-conclusionCome this Thursday, Apple is expected to take the wraps off their new iPads. Now while we have seen leaks and heard rumors about the next-gen iPad Air, not much has been said about the third-gen Retina iPad mini. Does this mean that Apple will not be upgrading the iPad mini?

Well according to a report from Mac Otakara (via MacRumors), iPad mini fans can rest assured because it seems that a new iPad mini will be announced at the event alongside the iPad Air 2. This goes against earlier reports that suggested that the mini version would not be announced this year and might only be launched next year.

That being said, it is unclear as to what kind of upgrades Apple could introduce to the third-gen iPad mini, save for an upgraded processor and the inclusion of Touch ID which is expected to be introduced in most, if not all, of Apple’s future iOS devices. The report goes on to state that Apple will be introducing new Smart Cover and Smart Case accessories, which we guess could do with a refresh.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but with the event only a few days away from happening, we suppose we won’t have to wait too long to find out, so be sure to check back with us on the 16th of October for the details.
