nexus-6-1Given that physical buttons tend to wear out after prolonged use, we’re sure many are curious as to whether the Nexus 6 will come with the double-tap to wake feature found on the Nexus 9. Why is this a big deal? Well according to the Nexus 9’s tech specs, it lists the feature, but it was not mentioned on the Nexus 6 which has many wondering if the Nexus 6 would be missing out on it.

Well the good news for those who were looking forward to the feature is that yes, the feature will be there. Like we said it was not listed under the Nexus 6’s specs, but according to Wired’s post on Android 5.0 Lollipop and the new Nexus devices, they mentioned the feature. “We also liked the way you can just double tap on it now to wake it up, and instantly get to your notifications. This was very… handy.”

However it wasn’t clear if they were talking about the Nexus 9 or the Nexus, and Phandroid’s Chris Chavez reached out the Wired to confirm it, which they did. So there you have it, it looks like the Nexus 6 will come with the double-tap to wake feature which we have to admit is pretty handy.

This feature has actually been around for a while, albeit not available on the stock Android build, but as expected with newer Android builds, Google is starting to incorporate more features that users are asking for.
