Microsoft announced in July that it would allow Windows and Windows Phone users to test pre-release Office software and provide feedback on the features. Back then Microsoft invited interested individuals and companies to register for the pre-release program and now it has finally started to roll out invites to the Office beta program which will be available across smartphones, tablets and desktops that are powered by the company’s platforms.

The software that these beta testers will be provided access to includes core Office apps such as Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook and Visio. Apps and services geared towards businesses, such as SharePoint, Exchange and Project server services, are included as well.

Those who receive their invites will follow a series of onboarding steps before they’re added to the list of beta program participants that will be provided access to pre-release software. Once the “features and experiences” are ready to receive feedback Microsoft will contact these participants with details provided that they meet the necessary profile. These programs will vary in length from a couple of weeks to several months.

So far it is not known what the first round of products these beta testers will be trying out however since the all-touch Office and Office 2015 are expected to be unveiled soon, its possible that the testers might receive early access.
