robot-shoppingAs the world gets more and more advanced with the kind of technology at our disposal, it is interesting to note that robots are starting to play a more and more important role in our society these days. Heck, the future could see robots being extremely commonplace in stores, helping out customers with whatever queries or questions that they might have concerning the place or a particular product. In fact, a couple of OSHbots will soon debut over at an Orchard Supply Hardware store in San Jose, California, in the coming few weeks.

These OSHbots are touted to be able to respond to humans appropriately, as they zip around the store while identifying as well as tracking down various items. The OSHbots were constructed alongside Fellow Robots, a technology company.

The OSHbot works this way – it comes with a 3D sensing camera which would allow it to perform an analysis of various objects. This particular “ability” would play to its strengths over at a hardware store, since it can figure out a select screw or bracket size without having to make second guesses. Apart from that, the OSHbot is also full well capable of carrying out basic conversations with humans, where it will feature the ability to converse in more than 5 languages in a few months’ time.
