Back in August at Gamescom Sony talked a bit about the next major software update for the PlayStation 4. At the event it described some of the new features that will be included in the PS4 system software 2.0. Don’t think that only those features will be included in this update. Sony has worked on more since then and has now detailed some additional features that will also be included in PS4 system software 2.0.

Among the new features detailed by Sony is USB Music Player which lets gamers play their own music in the background when they play a game. Just insert a USB flash drive with music in it and the option will appear. Supported extensions include MP3, MP4, M4A and 3GP.

The update will bring the ability to add themes which will now also let PS4 owners change background of home screen from light blue to one of seven new colors. Players that gamers might know as potential friends will be automatically suggested in the “What’s New” section.

Enhanced voice commands are being added as well. One can say “PlayStation” to begin commands and say “All Commands” to see a list of commands that can be given.

All of the new features that have been confirmed for PS4 system software 2.0 have been described in detail on Sony’s blog. The company has already confirmed dedicated app support for YouTube, direct upload of gameplay footage, real name search function and Share Play for this update, which will be released in the near future.
