For quite some time now Android users have had the ability to stream content from their mobile devices to their Roku set-top boxes however the company today announced the release of a new feature that puts it at par with devices that support mirroring with either Chromecast or Miracast. The Roku Screen Mirroring feature has been released in beta today for Windows 8.1 and Android devices, it is available for users around the world and will allow them to mirror anything and everything from their device to the Roku 3 and Roku Streaming Stick (HDMI Version).

One of the easiest ways to share what’s on the device is screen mirroring. It doesn’t require any additional software or apps since the feature quite literally just mirrors whatever is going on the screen.

You could be browsing a webpage or scrolling through an app, watching a movie or checking out pictures, everything will be thrown up on the big screen.

Roku has said that this new feature will be released to its customers starting today and everyone should receive it within the next couple of weeks at most.

It has already put up a detailed list of supported devices that are either running Windows 8.1 or Android OS, so check out the list and see whether or not your device is capable with the screen mirroring feature.
