tesco hudl2Tesco, as some of you guys are aware by now, is the name of a chain of supermarkets. However the company has also dabbled in hardware, like the Tesco Hudl tablet which they announced last year. This year Tesco reportedly had plans for a smartphone of their own but it was later revealed that they had put those plans on ice.

Instead the company revealed that they were looking at releasing the hudl2 tablet, and sure enough they did. The hudl2 will naturally be the successor to last year’s Hudl tablet, but unfortunately if you were hoping for powerful specs, you might be disappointed, although the specs aren’t particularly shabby. For starters, the hudl2 will come with an 8.3-inch display that will feature a Full HD resolution.

Interestingly enough instead of going with an ARM-based chipset, Tesco has gone with an Intel Atom quad-core chipset, and will also see 2GB of RAM tacked onto the tablet. The tablet will come with WiFi and a battery life of 8 hours on a single charge, or so Tesco claims, but this will largely depend on how you use your device.

The hudl2 will also come with Android 4.4 KitKat but it was not mentioned if the tablet would see an update to Android L when it is released. The tablet will also come bundled with the Blinkbox media software that will offer music, books, and TV shows in one place, and Dolby optimized speakers with a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. Priced at £129, it is expected to see a release on the 8th of October.
