It is hard to believe that nearly 10 years have passed since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was first released. Most of us got a bit nostalgic yesterday when rumors started circulating that this title is going to be re-released on the Xbox 360. Rockstar formally confirmed the updated Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Xbox 360 today and it brings full Achievements support as well as improved 720p graphics.

With the changes that Rockstar has made to this title it would justify putting down money for it once again. Xbox Originals version of this game has been removed from the Marketplace because GTA: San Andreas for Xbox 360 will now be available for purchase via Games on Demand from October 26th.

Rockstar promises games support for Achievements, improved 720p resolution as well as improved draw distances. Its October 26th release date is just in time for the 10th anniversary of GTA: San Andreas.

Those who purchase this updated title should keep in mind that it will not be compatible with the Xbox Originals version so saves won’t be transferred between the two. Folks who own the Xbox Originals version will have to access it through the console via the download history, there will be an option there to purchase the updated version.

Rockstar has not confirmed as yet if the updated GTA: San Andreas will be released for PlayStation 3 as well.
