While most of the time watching videos at 30fps is more than satisfactory, it would definitely be a lot better if it ran at 60fps. Well the good news is that if you’re an avid YouTuber, you might be pleased to learn that YouTube has finally brought 60fps to videos uploaded onto its website. The service was announced earlier this year, but we guess it has finally decided to roll out.

We should point out that in order to experience videos at 60fps, viewers will have to ensure that the videos are playing in 720p HD or 1080p Full HD quality, otherwise you won’t notice it. The video uploader will also have to ensure that the videos they upload have been recorded at 60fps as the feature won’t magically turn 30fps videos in 60fps.

It is unclear if there might be browser incompatibility issues, but using Chrome to view the videos would be a safe bet. It also seems to work in Safari, so if it isn’t working for you, perhaps using one of these browsers could be one way to go about enjoying the new 60fps videos. It was not mentioned if YouTube would be reprocessing older videos to bump them to 60fps, but considering how many videos YouTube has, it would seem unlikely.

In the meantime you can check out the video above which is that of someone playing Mario Kart 8 and experience what it’s like watching YouTube videos at 60fps – pretty awesome, huh?
