android-l-updateEarlier today we reported that the Moto G (2014) had begun receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. We thought it was a little odd that Motorola would choose to update its low-end smartphone first, as opposed to its flagship device. Well the good news for Moto X (2014) users is that it looks like the update should be making its way out to you as well.

According to a post on the Motorola blog, it seems that the updates are only intended for second-gen handsets, so if you’re still using the first-gen Moto X or Moto G, you guys will have to wait as presumably your updates will arrive at a later time. Motorola has stated that the updates have already begun rolling out, albeit in stages, so fret not if you haven’t received the notification on your phone yet.

Motorola has also stated that the update will be beginning in the US, so for those of you overseas, you’ll just have to remain patient for now. The update will bring about a host of new changes and features, namely Google’s Material Design visual makeover as well as new features such as lock screen notifications, guest modes that will let other people use your phone without ruining your settings or making unauthorized changes, and more. So, have you received your Android 5.0 Lollipop update yet?
