xiaomi-mi2-lollipopAh, there is no feeling out there which is quite like the one you get whenever you know the smartphone you’re using at the moment has the latest version of its operating system humming in the background. Having said that, it looks as though a Xiaomi Mi 2 has been caught running on Android 5.0 Lollipop in the wild, which is quite a surprise really, especially when Android 5.0 Lollipop is currently available only on the Nexus 9 as we hear of manufacturers racing against time and each other to reveal this latest update on their respective wares.

What you see on the right happens to be a Xiaomi Mi 2 which runs on a vanilla version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. While it is said that a picture speaks a thousand words, there really isn’t much that one can glean from what is shown here, as the handset does not seem to have any signal whatsoever, and there is no sign of Wi-Fi being turned on, either, so one can arrive at the conclusion that this, in all probability, is not a functional version, and could very well be a clean AOSP version of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

What makes it more interesting is the Xiaomi Mi 2 is not exactly a spring chicken when it comes to the world of smartphones, which is encouraging since this might mean older handsets from various manufacturers, too, will be able to hop aboard the Android 5.0 Lollipop train.
