cortana-esCortana, the voice assistant for the Windows Phone platform that has gained a positive notch in its proverbial hat as it managed to handle the summer World Cup’s match result predictions in an impressive manner, looks set to be back in the limelight this time around. Having been spotted on both German as well as Italian handsets that run on the Windows Phone 8.1 platform, it looks as though this virtual personal voice assistant has continued to make its way across Europe, arriving in Spain. Of course, this is not official just yet, as it was reported that hackers who managed to get Cortana up and running on their smartphones picked up transit reminders in their native language.

Screenshots of Cortana that bear the Spanish language have been spotted before, although Windowsphoneapps.es has not managed to replicate this “phenomena”, so to speak. It does look as though these images happen to be connected to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, where it is tipped to deliver the Alpha version of the personal assistant to additional regions globally.

It would be interesting to see how much more potential Cortana has up its sleeves in the long run, especially with various voice assistants that are in the market jostling for room with one another to be top dog.
