android-5.0-lollipop

Now that Google has confirmed the roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop many Android users around the world want to know when the update will land on their devices. Some OEMs have already confirmed roadmaps for their high-end devices but still many device owners have been left in the dark so they can only guess when they’ll get a taste of Lollipop. If custom ROMs are more your cup of tea then rest assured because work on custom Android 5.0 builds has begun.

These custom ROMs will use Android 5.0 as the source but will include their own features and customizations on top of the software. Some of the most popular custom ROMs include those from the OmniROM and CyanogenMod teams who release their custom ROMs for a widely variety of devices from different OEMs.

These ROMs will bring features and user interface improvements that come as part and parcel of Android 5.0 Lollipop with additional customizations and features. Currently the ROMs are in development and are available only to a select few who are testing them out for bugs.

As they’re released for different devices the news will certainly find its way online. Keep in mind though that flashing a custom ROM requires an unlocked bootloader and some knowledge of tinkering with Android software at that level. Those who do know how to get it done can enjoy Lollipop even before their OEM officially releases the update.
