arrested-manIt does look as though the digital trail of evidence will continue to play a growing and important role when it comes to solving crimes, or at the very least indicting the faces of suspects in an investigation. Take for instance, this particular moment when a man was arrested after being suspected of murdering his girlfriend, Amber Lynn Coplin, in Washington State – and this has also been linked to an earlier online confession.

Someone posted anonymously on the hugely popular internet forum 4chan, images of what looked to be a cadaver of a woman. Apart from sharing the gory details on how the murder was carried out, this anonymous posted also explained the method on which the body could be found by the deceased’s son upon returning home from school.

Police who looked into the situation did mention that the photos matched what they saw on the crime scene. The Wilsonville Police Twitter feed did share that 33-year-old David Kalac was detained “without incident and co-operative”. Kalac currently stands as the primary suspect, and the police believe that he is the one behind the anonymous postings as well. Isn’t it chilling how there are different aspects or elements on the Internet these days that were never there in the past?
