As the year draws to an end we start to wonder about new technology and products that we will get to see in the coming year. During the first few months certain flagships are expected to be refreshed, which include the HTC One. So far the company hasn’t dropped any hints of what may be called the HTC One (M9) but already the rumor mill has started churning, and we get a look at purported specifications of the Taiwan-based manufacturer’s next flagship smartphone.

A rumor today claims that HTC is going to show off the HTC One (M9) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year. It is rumored to tout a 5.2-inch display with 1,440×2,560 pixel resolution which translates into a spectacular 564ppi.

Under the hood there might be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor aided by 3GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. A 128GB model may also be available. The front and rear cameras may be improved and the device could tout a much bigger battery.

Since it will be next-year’s flagship there is a high chance that the HTC One (M9) will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed. No word as yet on whether the price will see a change as well.

The HTC One series is popular with Android fans due to its metal build and so far the rumors don’t suggest that HTC is going to move away from using metal as the build material. So we should expect a familiar look and feel from the device when it ultimately comes out next year.
