There is nothing quite like seeing a couple of robots duking it out against one another, sending nuts and bolts flying all over the place, which is why anime that depict such huge robots involved in a slugfest and having their laser cannons aimed at one another have their fair share of fans. Check out this MegaBots Kickstarter campaign then, where should enough money be raised to make it a reality, then we can watch human drivers controlling these behemoths take on one another in paintball arena games.

The MegaBot can be said to be a real life precursor to the fictional MechWarrior, where it will be controlled by a driver-and-gunner team. Each MegaBot stands tall at 15 feet, tipping the scales at a massive 15,000 lb (!). It will sport modular arms that are tipped with pneumatic guns which will be able to fire 3-lb paint MegaBalls at speeds of up to 120 mph. Needless to say, getting caught in a crossfire is no one’s idea of fun in this particular arena. Each MegaBot will be clad in customizable breakaway armor plating which will fly off whenever it takes a hit, so that the amount of “damage” can be kept track of.

It will cost around $1.8 million in order to get this project off the ground, and the prototypes are being worked upon at the moment.
