fatboy-lampIf there is one thing about concepts that should be admired, it would be this – they are more often than not attainable – although how far down the road in the future, that remains to be seen, and will most of the time offer a whole lot more convenience to the user than what the existing condition has.Having said that, Microsoft did reveal their cool looking DT-903 Wireless Charging Plate some time in early September, where it glows in order to point out the different notifications on your Windows Phone-powered Lumia handset, such as incoming emails and the ilk. However, it is interesting to take note that the Fatboy Lamp concept would bring this idea to another level, where this is the result of a collaboration between Fatboy and BlueGiga, where the latter is a manufacturer of Bluetooth modules.

Simone Leggio, Lead Program Manager for Microsoft Connectivity Software Program Management, shared, “We’ve taken an existing Fatboy product, the Edison Petit lamp, and made it work together with our Lumia phones. It’s very similar to how the wireless charging plate works – when you have new notifications, the lamp will blink.”

Needless to say, the plate itself is also smart enough to glow whenever it wants to invite you to recharge your device that is running low on battery. This is one smart lamp that I would not mind to see hit the market sooner rather than later. [Press Release]
