Electronic Arts today announced a new title for the Need for Speed franchise. The title is called Need for Speed No Limits and it will be released only for smartphones and tablets. That’s right, this game will not be released for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, or even the previous generation consoles for that matter.

It is worth mentioning here that 2014 has been a year in well over a decade as a full Need for Speed game has not been released for PC or consoles.

EA has revealed in a detailed blog post that Need for Speed No Limits is being developed by the same studio that did Real Racing 3, Firemonkeys. It has been built from the ground up to deliver “incredible graphics” and fast driving, optimized for devices that you can easily carry in the palm of your hand.

There is not much that is being revealed about this game right now. EA says that in the weeks and months ahead it will announce more details about the cars, characters and customization options that players will have access to.

A trailer with in-game footage from Need for Speed No Limits has been released today with rally driver Ken Block making an appearance as a guest star.
