Google may have announced yesterday that Android 5.0 Lollipop, its latest update, is rolling out but it didn’t reveal on which devices. The company didn’t even confirm which existing Nexus and Google Play Edition devices will be the first ones to receive Android 5.0. Some OEMs have been working hard to ensure that folks who own their devices receive updates fairly quickly. NVIDIA certainly wants to be in that list seeing as how it has announced that the Shield tablet will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop this month.

A handful of other OEMs have also confirmed the roadmap for some of their flagship devices. But one must also consider delays that mobile carriers cause in the release of new software so a lot of users may have to wait for many months before Android 5.0 Lollipop lands on their devices.

As far as the Shield tablet is concerned, NVIDIA is pretty sure that it will ship the update within November. It has already posted a video online which shows Lollipop running on the Shield tablet. Throughout the video it is mentioned multiple times that Lollipop is going to be released for this tablet in November.

So whenever the update is ready to be rolled out it will be released over-the-air. Those who own a Shield tablet will receive a notification when it lands, otherwise, we’ll certainly update you when NVIDIA ships it.
