drone-harrassWhile flying drones around are starting to get more and more restrictive, such as drone operators being required by the FAA to obtain a pilot’s license, here we are with word that a college in southwestern Ohio has stepped forward to construct an indoor flying pavilion for students, so that they have a safe place to test out and fly their drones without any kind of legal recriminations coming their way.

According to Sinclair Community College officials, this particular 40-foot high pavilion would resemble that of a traditional aircraft hangar, where it will be built adjacent to a building in Dayton which will house several of its education and training programs where unmanned aerial systems and aviation are concerned.

No longer will students have to subject themselves to the mercy of weather issues thanks to this indoor pavilion, and neither do you have Federal Aviation Administration restrictions weigh heavily on your shoulders. Deb Norris, Sinclair’s vice president for workforce development and corporate services, shared, “We think it is really important for students to be able to experience the capabilities of flying.”

The entire pavilion’s construction and renovation happen to cost $5 million to build, and the project is due for completion in slightly more than a year’s time.
