ascend p8

As 2014 draws to an end we can’t help but wonder about the amazing technology that we’ll get to see and experience in the coming year. For technology fans the new year always kicks off with a big bang, courtesy of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It is an annual gathering that takes place in early January and features a plethora of consumer electronics products from a wide variety of manufacturers. Mobile devices like smartphones and tablets get a lot of attention at CES, which is why it is believed that Huawei will unveil the Ascend P8 at CES 2015.

So far not much is known about the Huawei Ascend P8, the successor to Huawei Ascend P7, which has already been available in the market for quite some time.

According to reports the smartphone is going to touch a 5.2-inch 1080p display with a 2.5D curved glass. The P8 is expected to have a metal build like its predecessor with a back cover made out of “porcelain texture.”

Under the hood this device may be powered by a HiSilicon Krin 930 SoC built using TSMC’s 16nm process. It may have an octa-core processor, and it is not known right now what the clock speed of this processor precisely is.

It remains to be seen if Huawei’s latest smartphone gets any significant traction outside of China, and whether or not the company decides to actually sell it in markets other than its home turf.
