android-5.0-lg-g3

Just last week we reported that LG had revealed through its German Facebook page that Android 5.0 Lollipop for the LG G3 is going to be released in the fourth quarter of this year. It is a vague timeframe but it appears that the company is hard at work perfecting this update for its latest flagship smartphone. Several screenshots have appeared online which show Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the LG G3.

As it turns out multiple European branches of LG have already confirmed that the G3 is going to receive the latest Android update before the end of this year. This means that we should expect it to drop within the next few weeks seeing as how that’s all that is left of this year anyway.

These leaked screenshots show how much progress has already been made. We get to see the card-based notification system that’s new in Android 5.0 Lollipop as well as the new round profile picture. Changes made to the user interface courtesy Material Design will bring a whole new look and feel to the device.

Google has already started updating some of its applications, like Maps, with Material Design. That way its standalone applications will also look like the latest and greatest Android OS update. LG has not yet provided a concrete release date for when the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will land on the G3.
