xbox-playstation-wall-e3-2013-bThere are three major consoles in the market at the moment – the Sony PlayStation 4, the Microsoft Xbox One, and the Nintendo Wii U. They all offer different games, different exclusives, and cater to different groups of gamers, but is there one that is more popular than the rest? Well it turns out that over in Japan, the Sony PS4 takes the cake.

A survey was conducted by the Japanese Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association during the Tokyo Game Show in which attendees were asked which console they are intending on buying. Sony’s PS4 came first with a whopping 23.1%. If you’re thinking it’s a close tie between the PS4 and the Xbox One, think again because the Xbox One came in with a 5.9% vote. In fact the Wii U managed to beat out the Xbox One at 10.4%.

If anything these numbers seem to corroborate earlier reports which suggested that the Xbox One in Japan isn’t doing so well. That being said In terms of portable consoles, Sony’s PS Vita managed to edge out the Nintendo 3DS at 7.3% versus the 3DS’ 5.8% which is admittedly not too far behind.

These are some interesting numbers and we guess things don’t look too doom and gloom for Nintendo as most people seem to think it is. However this survey is limited to the Japanese market and those who attended the Tokyo Game Show, so perhaps we could be looking at very different numbers in another market.
