Lumia Cyan is the name of the major Windows Phone 8.1 update for Nokia’s Lumia devices. Many carriers around the world have already pushed out this update and Nokia itself rolled out the update for unlocked models. Unfortunately Verizon subscribers have had to wait for a long, long time and it appears they will have to wait for a bit more. It turns out that the Verizon Lumia Cyan update has been pulled back and its status now is “under development.”

What this means is that those Verizon users itching to update their Lumia 822, Lumia Icon or Lumia 928 to Cyan will have to wait for some time now before Verizon finally gets done with this update and starts to release it.

The previous status of this update for Verizon Lumia devices was “Under Testing.” This means that the update has been provided to the carrier which is now running its own tests. “Under Development” is likely to entail that the software has failed certification and it has been sent back to Microsoft where it will be rebuilt in order to address any underlying issues.

One of the reasons believed to be behind this is apparently Verizon insisting that its native apps like VZ Navigator, Voicemail, My Verizon and more work “perfectly” on supported devices before approval is granted to the Cyan update.

In a recent tweet Windows Phone honcho at Microsoft Joe Belfiore also mentioned that Microsoft and Verizon are working on some bug fixes with regards to the Lumia Cyan update, with “VZW taking the quality seriously.”

It has not been confirmed when Verizon will finally release Lumia Cyan update for its subscribers, all they can do right now is wait.
