vudu-sparkWalmart has more or less lined up their spanking new streaming HDMI dongle that is said to look somewhat like Google’s very own Chromecast or the Fire TV Stick from Amazon, which would be interesting to see more competition appear in this particular market. However, do not have too high of a hope when it comes to the Vudu Spark, since there is every possibility of it lacking some of the features as found in the other two devices. The Vudu Spark was leaked from the FCC’s website, where one can check out a slew of various photos there, in addition to a user manual to boot. In this particular document, it points users to how one is able to set up the Spark so that it can play nice with your Wi-Fi network, and deliver Vudu right on your TV itself.

All in all, this is more or less Walmart’s retort to Netflix, giving consumers yet another alternative when it comes to streaming movies and watching TV shows on demand. As for the remote control used, it will be a Zigbee-based RF remote control, although it remains to be seen whether it is capable of supporting smartphone-based control just like the Google Chromecast. Apart from that, there does not seem as though there was any mention of screen mirroring or other kinds of advanced features, so it might just be a very straightforward and basic method of seeing Vudu appear on a dumb TV.
