Workout-computer-by-Bless_dezeen_784_0The idea of standing desks is a recent trend as it supposedly helps promote healthier work habits. Given that we spend a lot of our time at the desk working, it certainly makes sense, although we have seen alternatives that lets the user exercise while at work. Well it looks like designers Ines Kaag and Desiree Heiss have taken the idea and run with it, thus resulting in the office space pictured above.

Now you’re probably wondering how on earth is any work supposed to get done with all those punching bags in the way? Well if you look closely, each punching bag is labeled with a key from the keyboard. The idea is to provide users with a workout as they have to punch each bag in order to type things out, thus giving users a full body workout in the process.

Workout-computer-by-Bless_dezeen_784_5According to Heiss who spoke to the folks at Dezeen, “The Workout Computer would be our everyday dream office tool. Personally we would love to be, at the end of the working day, physically as exhausted as mentally.” Heiss adds, “We thought this would be a much more modern way of living than working at the office with back pain and then doing a little bit of sport in the evening.”

Without doubt this is probably one of the more creative ideas we’ve seen regarding health and work, but at the moment it does seem to exist more as a proof of concept as to an actual product, since admittedly it doesn’t seem to be very efficient if you’re looking to type out long documents or emails.
