articamWhile the sales of selfie sticks over in South Korea might actually land you in jail as well as being slapped by a hefty fine, here is one particular device that might help you out, although it will require a fair number of geeky items in tow to make it happen. Do you still remember the graphing calculator that is part of your arsenal of products? Well, it might not see all that much action in this day and age considering the rest of the mobile devices that are in tow, but it still has some life left in its legs, if you do not mind rolling up your sleeves and getting down and dirty with it.

In Christopher Mitchell’s latest project, which is know as ArTICam, it will allow you turn a TI-83 Plus or TI-84 Plus calculator into a selfie-oriented camera. Yes, you read that right – this particular mod would require you to pick up a Game Boy Camera as well as a programmable Arduino board before you get started. It will take some wiring job to be done as well as installation of the ready-made code, before you go about snapping selfies – all through the use of a calculator command, now how about that for style? The grayscale images captured will make use of the 128 x 123 resolution, which are positively primitive in this day and age, but at least it helps breath a new lease of life into the unwanted and unused devices around the home.
