barclaycard-gloveWe have migrated from the barter system to one that makes use of currency, but it does look as though payment systems of the future will not even require you to fork out cold, hard cash to complete a transaction. I know that some of us might see this particular mode of transaction to be around for quite some time already, ever since the advent of the credit card, but I am referring to paying without carrying even a single credit card. How about using a pair of smart gloves to get the job done?

Barclaycard has revealed plans to equip customers with smart gloves, so that they will be able to make purchases via the sensors that are located on their fingers. These contactless ‘tap and pay’ gloves do not look gaudy either, so that you do not end up embarrassed, but rather, like any other pair of ordinary woollen gloves. Making use of similar technology found in contactless credit cards to pay for items, these gloves are capable of paying for transactions of up to £20 without requiring one to key in the PIN number. Right now, prototypes of these Barclaycard smart gloves are being trialled in the UK, where it might see more widespread use from next year onward.
