While there are gamers out there who are perfectly fine with their consoles the way they are, there are some gamers who have resorted to modifying their consoles to give themselves a slight edge. Well no one really likes a cheater,  Bungie especially as they have recently announced a wave of bans against Destiny gamers.

According to a post on Bungie’s website, the developers note that those gaming on modified consoles could potentially face a ban. “Something else that deserves mention is that the BanHammer has been a-swingin’. Ninja Justice is always swift and final. A review of the bans applied over the last week shows that all of the affected accounts had logged into Destiny on a modified console at some point. Play nice! And use the boxes that your favorite retailer ‘gave’ you.”

If you’re wondering what Destiny on a modded console looks like, there are plenty of videos out there on YouTube (like the one above) that shows the game running on a modified console. Why is this a big deal? Well thanks to the mods, gamers not only are able to give themselves super speed, unlimited ammo, but God mode as well.

Safe to say that no one likes a cheat which could explain the ban wave. So far the mods appear to have been done on previous gen consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PS3. No word on whether it is possible to mod using the current-gen consoles, but if you’d rather not be banned from playing Destiny, perhaps you’ll want to give this a miss.
