caddy-rvmIf you are itching to get your hands on a new car some time next year or the year after next, then you might want to check out the 2016 Cadillac CT6. What would make this particular ride more special than what we have seen in the past would be the fact that its new rear view mirror will not be a traditional rear view mirror, but rather, come in the form of a display instead. This means that there will be no reflective surface, apart from an LCD display that is a poor substitute for an actual mirror whenever there is no power flowing through it.

The 2016 Cadillac CT6’s new rear view display will boast of a high-resolution screen that sports a pixel count of 1280 x 240. This TFT-LCD display will be right smack where the glass for the mirror ought to be, and it does offer several benefits that regular rear view mirrors do not have – that is, being able to remove the visual obstacles of passengers, headrests, roof, pillars and other items that normally block a driver’s view out the back window. It is said that the streaming image has shown in theory to improve the field of vision by approximately 300%.

This is somewhat akin to driving a convertible with the top down, except that you do not need to have the wind mess up your hair. The HDR camera installed in the rear end of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 will boast of integrated glare reduction as well as low light visibility for night time driving. [Press Release]
