While the new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL consoles have yet to make their way stateside and in Europe, they have been released in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, meaning that there are some lucky gamers out there who are currently enjoying Nintendo’s latest console. That being said, it seems that a recent Vine post by a Japanese user revealed an interesting Easter Egg in the console.

It seems that if you were to tap out the opening bar of the Super Mario Bros. theme song on the “new page” screen of the console’s browser, users will be able to play a mini game of Breakout (or at least a Breakout clone) where you will get to destroy each URL in your most visited site’s list brick by brick. We suppose if you have run out of games or just want something different for a change, you won’t have to look any further beyond the 3DS’ browser.

This was confirmed by Sam Byford of The Verge who tried it with his new 3DS console. However as he notes, this will not work on the original 3DS which sports a different interface. For those who currently own the new 3DS, you will know when you have activated the Easter Egg when the words “STAGE SELECT” appears, as you can see in the video above. Pretty cool, huh?
