For Android gamers, they’re probably pleased to learn that Blizzard’s Hearthstone has recently begun to rollout for Android tablets. The mobile phone version which will cover iPhones and Android smartphones is expected to take place in 2015, but the good news is that if you’re an Android user, you can go ahead and install the game on your Android device now.

The folks at GamesBeat have found a method, tested it, and to their delight found that it works, so if you own an Android device, perhaps you could go ahead and try it for yourself. Now the good news is that one of the methods does not require users to root their Android smartphone, so if you’re not particularly tech savvy, then this method is for you.

You can follow in the steps below (courtesy of GamesBeat) and check out the video tutorial above if you prefer graphical instructions:

  1. Down the .apk and the “com.blizzard.wtcg.hearthstone” folder from this link.
  2. Put those files on your phone if you haven’t already.
  3. From your Android device, head to the Google Play Store and download: ES File Explorer Manager.
  4. In ES File Explorer, navigate to the files you just downloaded and install the .apk.
  5. Go back to ES File Explorer, find the files again, this time select and copy the “Com.blizzard.wtcg.hearthstone” folder.
  6. In ES, navigate to SD Card/Android/Obb
  7. Paste the folder into this file.
  8. Boot up Hearthstone and sign in.

Now we haven’t tested it for ourselves so we can’t guarantee that it will work at least on our end, but from what we can see it should run no problem. However we should note that Hearthstone has not been optimized for mobile devices yet. While it should work, perhaps there are some functions and features that might not translate so well on smartphones, but if you’re so inclined, why not?
