apple maps icloudA couple of years ago, Apple made the decision to remove Google Maps as the default maps app on iOS devices, instead opting to use Apple Maps instead. Safe to say that this was something of a disaster due to the numerous glitches and inaccuracies of Apple Maps at that time.

Thankfully Google Maps made a return as a standalone app. That being said, Apple also transitioned Find My iPhone to Apple Maps, and now according to reports, the same thing has been done with iCloud. Apple has been steadily making the transition over the years with Find My iPhone and Find My Friends, so it is unclear as to why iCloud was the last of Apple’s services to get the Apple Maps treatment.

The use of Apple Maps in iCloud has actually been around in the beta version of iCloud, but we guess that feature has finally been rolled out to the public. If anything this latest change pretty much removes most of Google’s presence from Apple’s native apps, services, and features. Is this a good thing?

Well if you have had no problems using Apple Maps then we guess the change shouldn’t really affect you. However if you’re not a fan of Apple Maps, you’re out of luck because you’ll just have to get used to it.
