lg-fx0It was earlier this morning that we picked up word on the radar that KDDI of Japan has announced its very first smartphone that will run on the Firefox OS platform as opposed to the other more popular choices that are readily available – iOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry. The handset in question? The KDDI Fx0, which so happens to have been manufactured by the folks over at LG.

Mozilla Corporation, the party behind Firefox OS that has just a handful of users in comparison to the popularity levels of the other mentioned platforms earlier on, might have stumbled upon a gem of a smartphone with the Fx0, where it will pack its fair share of hardware specifications to excite the masses who happen to be on a tight budget and would like to obtain the best bang for their hard earned buck.

If there was one particularly interesting aspect about the Fx0, it would be its transparent shell and home button that has been decorated with the Firefox logo, making this a true blue masterpiece. The see-through design by Tokujin Yoshioka is meant to symbolize Mozilla’s mission where openness and transparency are concerned, although it does bring back fond memories of the transparent Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color models that were part of many a childhood in the past.
