livemapRussia’s Livemap has come up with a unique motorcycle helmet that is smart – where it will come equipped with voice control alongside delivering GPS navigation straight in your field of vision. In other words, as you ride, you will be able to see the directions in your helmet display, all without having to fiddle around with a different device, or to even take your eyes away from the road.

It was in January earlier this year that the Livemap team demonstrated an early version of their display, which proved to be transparent enough to display a map without ending up to be a distraction, obscuring the road ahead if that is your concern. Most of the work done throughout this year was to build the pre-production prototype of Livemap’s optics, which will be made up entirely of aspheric lenses so that the helmet can be “smaller and lighter and sometimes cheaper than the multi-lens design.”

Livemap has plans to roll out its prototype in spring next year, with sales all set to kick off in the US first some time next summer. Of course, other markets will be added to the mix in due time. Hopefully this smart helmet will not break the bank when it arrives, as it looks cool as all get out.
