If you’re a guitar enthusiasts, chances are you’ve come across videos in which professionals are able to shred on their guitars at blinding speeds, and maybe if you just started learning to play, you might be a little lost and confused as to how on earth did they manage to achieve such blinding speeds?

Or maybe you’re such a player and you want to share your technique with the world. While you could go about the traditional route of recording yourself playing the guitar and breaking down the steps, perhaps the Magnet could be an alternative method of showcasing your work. Put together by Troy Grady, Magnet is a smartphone mount for guitars.

As you can see in the video above, Magnet will mount on your guitar by clipping onto its neck. From there users can insert their smartphone, turn on the recording, and begin recording their sessions. According to Grady, the idea came to him when he realized that the original setup needed to shoot such a video was huge, expensive, and heavy, but the Magnet changes all of that.

Combine that with phones like the iPhone 6 which features slow-motion video recording, you’ve got yourself a pretty good tool that you can use to not only record your sessions, but slow down your actions so that viewers will be able to understand what you’re doing. Magnet is currently a Kickstarter project and if you’d like to help it meet its goal, head on over to its page for the details.
