A report out of Denver brings to light a rather interesting incident that occurred a week ago. A man purchased one PlayStation 4 bundle from a Walmart in Stapleton, Colorado and was surprised to find two bags of rocks inside the box instead of the console. Its not uncommon to hear about people being duped, but usually its limited to purchases made off of Craigslist or eBay, rarely does one expect this to happen at a major retail chain. There’s more than meets the eye to this story.

The man, Igor Baksht, purchased the Grand Theft Auto V PS4 bundle from Walmart last Friday as a present for his niece. The store employee how brought out the unit from a locked case reportedly told Baksht that the particular bundle had been returned by the previous customer.

Baksht didn’t check the box’s contents at that time, even when he had been told that it was returned, he did so after leaving the store and to his horror found that instead of the console there were two bags of rocks inside. He says that the employee who retrieved the unit from the locked case also remarked on the heaviness of the box.

After trying to return it at the Walmart he purchased the unit from, and striking out, Baksht called the retail giant’s corporate offices and they sorted it out for him. On Christmas Eve Baksht was called by the store manager who invited him down to get his refund.

All is well that ends well, I guess.
