You might remember that in October Microsoft unveiled a new application that revolved around photo sharing. Today the company has released a big update for the Xim photo sharing application. It is available on the Windows Phone, iOS and Android platforms, the latest update rolled out today brings the ability to share photos to media streaming devices like Chromecast, Apple TV, Fire TV and even the Xbox One.

Xim has often been described as Microsoft’s take on Snapchat. People who receive a photo via Xim don’t require the app to view it instead the cloud-based photos can be viewed through browsers as well. The ephemeral quality is the same though, according to Microsoft, all content in a Xim “expires after a little while.”

This marks the first time that Microsoft has added support for Chromecast and the Apple TV in any of its iOS applications. The company relies upon various wireless protocols used by these different devices to enable photo sharing on devices like Apple TV and the Fire TV.

A Xim can contain up to 50 photos and friends can be invited to view it through their email addresses or mobile numbers. Recipients who use the app have the ability to add more images and even participate in the group chat. The updated Xim app is now available from App Store, Google Play Store and the Windows Phone Store.
