While Microsoft’s attention is naturally on Windows Phone, it doesn’t mean that they don’t want a slice of the Android pie. You might recall that back in October, Microsoft Garage released an Android lockscreen called Next Lock Screen. Well the good news is that if you are the user of the app and were hoping for more functionality, you’re in luck as Microsoft has recently released an update for it.
The update is a pretty big one. One of the new features that Microsoft is adding to the Next Lock Screen is the ability to view the weather at a glance. This adds more functionality to the lockscreen and will probably make it more appealing to other users who were a bit put off by the lack of features in the first iteration of the app.
Microsoft has also added more personalization features, such as the ability to use your home screen’s wallpaper as the lockscreen’s wallpaper, and also allowing users to hide the status bar if they find it a bit too ugly for their liking. Of course there is still more work to be done to the app, but if you’re looking to try something new, or maybe because you’re a fan of Microsoft, you can go ahead and grab the Next Lock Screen (and its update) from the Google Play Store.
