tgif-droneAn enclosed area is one of the more difficult and challenging places to fly a drone in, as photographer Georgine Benvenuto can testify to that particular statement. The mistletoe drone that TGI Fridays unleashed over in its Sheepshead Bay, New York location did not end up in a kiss, but rather, it ended up clipping the chin of the customer. Apparently, the operator encouraged the reporter alongside Benvenuto to actually land a 10-inch drone on one hand in an demonstration that was held on December 4th. It might have been the smaller of both drones available on site, with the propellers measuring a mere 5” in length, but their blades remained sharp and uncovered.

Drone operator David Quiones mentioned that the accident could have been avoided should the reported remained steady without any flinching when the drone landed on her hand, which ended up with the drone headed in the direction of hurtling towards her companion. Although this has resulted in the drone drawing blood from someone’s face, Quiones still believes that this incident will not affect business at all.

He shared, “If people get hurt, they’re going to come regardless. People get hurt in airplanes, they still fly. There is a risk involved — anything flying, there is risk.” Do you agree with that statement?
