moto-g-gpe-android501Earlier this month, we did bring you word that the Moto G smartphone from Motorola was set to pick up the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, and that ought to have sent down a tingle of excitement through the spines of qualified Moto G owners. Well, if you happen to be in possession of a Google Play edition of th Moto G, then here is news for you – it seems that Moto G Google Play edition owners are due to be on the receiving end of yet another new update, where it will bump up the version number to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop this time around.

Do not expect anything groundbreaking to accompany this particular update, taking into consideration how it happens to deliver a small number of bug fixes as well as (fingers crossed) performance improvements to the mix. Nexus devices have already picked up this update, and with the same happening to the Moto G Google Play edition, this might be the watershed moment that other Google Play edition devices, too, are well on their way to picking up a similar update.

The entire update will weigh in at 380MB with build designation LRX21Z, and while it remains a wee bit older compared to the Nexus build, just about everything else contained within remains the same.
