nokia-n1-7While Microsoft has officially acquired Nokia’s cellphone division, it does not mean that Nokia’s main company in Finland will be twiddling their thumbs idly and letting opportunities pass them by. In fact if anything it looks like the company still has a strong interest in the mobile market with the announcement of the Nokia N1 Android tablet back in November.

Now previously it was speculated that the tablet could see a launch in Q1 2015 and now thanks to new rumors, a more specific date has been provided in the form of the 7th of January 2015. Apparently Nokia is expected to host an event of their own on that date in which the tablet’s availability will be announced.

However the bad news for now is that it looks like it could only see a release in China at the moment, as previously stated, but perhaps its initial launch could be for the Chinese market before it makes its way stateside or to other parts of the world. Either way we will need to hear from Nokia officially before any of this can be confirmed.

As a quick recap for you guys that might have missed the announcement, the Nokia N1 is an Android tablet from the Finnish company that was not bought by Microsoft. It sports an aluminum design with a 7.9-inch 1536×2048 resolution. It will be powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor clocked at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, a 5MP front camera, an 8MP rear-facing camera, 5,300mAh battery, and will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia’s very own Z Launcher preinstalled.
