It was close to three months back that developers successfully introduced the PS4 Remote Play app to non-Sony smartphones, and this was made possible courtesy of an APK file. While this particular app proved itself to be compatible with devices that ran on Android 4.0 and above, it was non-functional since Sony would only send this service up and running in November. And taking into consideration how those options ended up useless in due time, this latest Remote Play port could be worth your time.
The PS4 Remote Play port was made possible thanks to an XDA user known as TheScriptKitty, who claimed the app to play nice with devices that run on Android 4.4 KitKat or higher, although there has been instances of several users who used smartphones running on Android 4.2 and Android 4.3 experience a favorable result. Even better is, this new hack does not make it compulsory for users to obtain root access on their smartphones, now how about that? Root access, however, is necessary should you want to indulge in the DualShockManager app on your smartphone.
In order to obtain this app on your smartphone, you will first need to download and install RemotePlayPortV0.6.1.apk, and if you have a previous version running on your device, do fire up “adb uninstall com.playstation.remoteplay” prior, and you’re good to go afterwards.
